Powder Mixing Process: Mechanical mixing is used to thoroughly and uniformly mix the various raw material powders. This step is crucial, directly affecting the consistency of the brake pad's final performance. Researchers optimize the powder mixing equipment and process parameters, such as controlling the mixing time and rotation speed, to ensure uniform distribution of each component.
Molding Process: Commonly used molding methods include compression molding and isostatic pressing. Compression molding involves placing the mixed powder into a mold and shaping it under pressure; this method is suitable for producing brake pads with simple shapes and large batches. Isostatic pressing utilizes the property of a liquid medium to uniformly transmit pressure, applying pressure to the powder in all directions, compacting it into shape; this method is more suitable for producing brake pads with complex shapes and high density requirements. Sintering Process: The formed blank is sintered to densify it. The sintering process is generally carried out in a protective atmosphere to prevent metal oxidation.
